Recording Studio questions
How do I record my voice online for free?
Open the TimePlay Recording Studio, choose Voice only and press Start recording. Allow the microphone when the browser asks. When you stop, you can play it back and download it as an MP3 or WAV file. Nothing is uploaded: the recording stays on your device.
How do I record a vertical video for Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts?
Choose Camera + voice (or Screen + voice), pick the 9:16 Reel / Shorts size and press Start recording. The video is framed at 1080 × 1920 and saved as an MP4 (H.264 + AAC) in Chrome, Edge and Safari, which Instagram, YouTube and TikTok accept.
Which sizes can I record in?
Reel / Shorts 9:16 (1080 × 1920), YouTube 16:9 (1920 × 1080), Square 1:1 (1080 × 1080), Portrait 4:5 (1080 × 1350), or any custom width and height from 240 to 3840 pixels. Choose 720p for smaller files.
Can I pause and set a time limit?
Yes. Pause and Resume leave no gap in the file, Re-record throws the take away and starts again, and the time limit (15 seconds up to 10 minutes) stops the recording automatically while showing the time left.
Can I record my screen with my voice?
Yes, on a computer. Choose Screen + voice, pick a window, tab or the whole screen, and your microphone is mixed in. Tick the option to also record the sound of the shared tab. Phones don't allow screen sharing from a web page.
Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?
No. The studio records and encodes everything inside your browser and saves the file straight to your device. We never see or store your voice, camera or screen.
Why can't the studio use my microphone or camera?
The browser needs your permission. Click the camera or lock icon in the address bar and allow the microphone and camera, then try again. If another app (such as a video call) is using the camera, close it first.
